Museum & Theatre
Within short distance of Croydon Park Hotel are many museums for you to visit and immerse yourself in the history of the different communities and eras. There are so many to choose from but the following are our top three to start with.
The Museum of Croydon is one of the most popular museums in the area. Explore the history of the Croydon area and community – information is displayed in a unique way so that everyone will find themselves be captivated by their findings. The museum holds itself responsibility for “telling the stories of their local people”. The museum is built on memories and the stories and objects love have contributed to the museum over the years. It’s a must for anyone in Croydon area.
Horniman Museum and Gardens is a great visit as the history of the museum itself is interesting. Frederick John Horniman, Victorian tea trader and philanthropist was fascinated by history and began collection objects and artifacts from all over the world. It came a point when he had such a large collection that he decided to give up his home to them and open it to the public to view. Since then, the museum has expanded and gathered even more historical objects for its collection.
Last, but certainly not least is Honeywood Museum. This beautiful historical house looks out onto the picturesque Carshalton Ponds. The house itself and surroundings is worth the visit as it’s easily one of the most scenic areas of Great London. The house transports you back in time and displays how the house looked in the Edwardian times.
If history is one of your interests, make Croydon Park Hotel your base for your historic ventures.
