The Oval Cricket Ground
The Oval Cricket Ground (currently the Kia Oval) is an international cricket ground in Kennington. The club is roughly 30 minutes from Croydon Park Hotel. Simply get the Southern line from East Croydon Station towards Victoria and change at Clapham Junction. From there, head towards London Waterloo and get off in Vauxhall Station. The cricket ground is a 10 minute walk from the station.
The Oval is the home ground of Surrey Cricket Club and was the first ground to host test cricket matches in 1880. The Oval is also the ground in which the world renowned Ashes was born in 1882, since then every great cricketer in the world has played on the spectacular grounds. The Oval traditionally hosts the final match of the English test matches each year which draws huge crowds.
The famous International Cricket Stadium also has a full tour of the ground and its facilities available to the general public. On the tour, you will get backstage access to see where the players train and also take a look at the grounds from the media perspective including the Brian Johnston Broadcasting Centre and the Sydney Pardon Press Box.
The Oval also hosted a variety of other events throughout the years including rugby union matches, FA cup finals, hockey fixtures and concerts.
